Police in Ho Chi Minh City arrested a couple on Sunday for allegedly producing knock-off high-end whiskey.

A 25-year-old man and his 26-year-old wife were arrested with 15 undocumented bottles bearing foreign labels such as Johnie Walker, Red Label and Hennessy.

The couple said they made the booze themselves and put the foreign brands on the bottles before selling them to a liquor supplier for bars and dance clubs in downtown HCMC.

Police found a lot of equipment at their home in District 2, which the couple remted exclusively for the purpose of bootlegging liquor.

Police estimate that the couple has sold around 50 bottles every week for the past six months or so.
