Death toll in central Vietnam’s floods rises to 52

As of Friday morning, 52 people were reported dead and 24 were slated as missing in floods brought on by torrential rains that began last week, according to an online government report.
Another 54 residents, meanwhile, were described as injured, the Central Committee of Storm and Flood Control reported.
Quang Binh province remains the hardest hit, with 36 deaths and 44 injuries, following by Ha Tinh province, where eight died and five were injured, according to the latest figures.
The two provinces were estimated to suffer more than VND2.1 trillion (US$107.7 million) in property damage, Tuoi Tre reported.
In the meantime, local rivers have finally receded to pre-flood levels now that rains have stopped or petered out in the central provinces, the committee reported.
