Gang gunfire kills one near Hanoi’s Parkson

A man armed with a loaded gun was killed early morning Wednesday in a gunfire exchange that occurred in front of the Parkson Commercial Center in Hanoi, one of the busiest areas in the capital.
The scene is near the junction of Chua Boc – Thai Ha – Tay Son in Dong Da district and the perished victim was identified as Nguyen Minh Duong, aka Nguyen Tran Hoang, 29, of the northern Quang Ninh province.
Tien Phong reported that Duong is the son of Mr. Nguyen Hong Truong, former director of the Justice Department in Quang Ninh.
Duong was put on a taxi and rushed to hospital but died later.
The man who helped Duong onto the taxi mysteriously disappeared after arriving at the hospital. Police suspect this good Samaritan could be a gang member evading arrest.
An autopsy showed the victim sustained a deep gun shot fired from a K54 gun.
A military K54 gun and seven bullets were found on Duong’s body.
A search of his rented room turned up a Colt gun and 19 bullets.
Police suspect this is a gang fight for turf or to claim back debts.
