Vietnam has a new Party General Secretary today
The Party Congress in Hanoi is set to conclude today and will officially announce the new General Secretary of the Communist Party and the new State President.
The Congress will also hear announcement about the result of the election of the new Politburo and Secretariat.
The Congress will go through Party rules and resolutions of the Congress and hear reports on certain issues.
The new General Secretary is expected to deliver a speech to conclude the Congress and hold a press conference.
Earlier, the Congress has elected 175 official members and 25 alternate members.
There are some young talented figures like Dr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, 35 years old, deputy headmaster of the University of Architecture, Ho Chi Minh City who has been voted an alternate member.
Another 35-year-old alternate member is Nguyen Xuan Anh, secretary of Lien Chieu district Party Committee, Da Nang.
The youngest official member is Vo Van Thuong, 41 years old, first secretary of the Youth Union Committee while the oldest member is Nguyen Phu Trong, 67, chairman of the National Assembly.
