Mid-year CG meeting to open in June
The annual mid-term meeting of the Consultative Group (CG) will be held in the central province of Ha Tinh on June 9.
According to the World Bank (WB) representative office in Vietnam, this meeting will discuss ways to stabilize the macro economy, protect poor people from macroeconomic instabilities, prevent corrupt, and ensure aid efficiency.
Before the CG meeting, the International Financial Corporation (IFC), a member of the WB, and the Ministry of Planning and Investment will jointly hold the mid-term Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) in Hanoi on May 27.
Development partners pledged US$7.905 billion in Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Vietnam in 2011 at the end of their two-day meeting with the Vietnamese Government in Hanoi late last year.
The amount included $3.3 billion from bilateral partners (with $1.76 billion from Japan) and the remaining $4.6 billion from multilateral partners.
At the CG meeting held in 2009, Vietnam got the committed ODA amount of $8 billion, however $1 billion was reserved to support Vietnam in weathering the financial and economic crisis.
