Vietnam set for annual European Film Festival

Thirteen feature films and several shorts will be screened in the 12th European Film Festival in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi this month.

The annual event, held by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam to mark Europe Days, seeks to celebrate the diversity of cinema.

The highlight will be a short-film night featuring 10 films like “Sleeping Beauty and Ms O’Frimm” and “Wednesday” from Ireland, “Farmer’s desire” from Sweden, and “Tripe and onion” form Hungary.

Last year the festival attracted around 8,000 people in the two cities.

It opens in HCMC on May 16 at the Dong Da Cinema, Tran Hung Dao, District 5, and in Hanoi on May 20 at the National Cinema Center, Lang Ha.

In HCMC, free tickets can be picked up at the Goethe Institut, 18 No 1 Street, Cu Xa Do Thanh, District 3; the British Council, 25 Le Duan, District 1; and Dong Da Cinema.

In Hanoi, they are available at the Goethe Institut, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc; the British Council, 20 Thuy Khue; and L’Espace, 24, Trang Tien.
