Asus launches Android tablet in town, lures hundreds
Taiwanese hardware maker Asus on Sunday attracted around 250 hundreds buyers queuing up in front of its HCMC dealer, Phong Vu electronic shopping center in HCMC’s District 3, for its latest Android tablet Asus Transformer.
It also launched another sale of the tablet at Tran Anh electronic shopping center in Hanoi on Sunday morning.
With the promotional program offering the gadget’s docking device, priced at VND2 million, for free for the first 200 buyers, the launch of the VND11 million Android was packed with high-tech enthusiasts waiting to be the first to grasp the gadget.
Since there were more buyers joining the crowd, Asus sale moderator said there would be more discount programs for those who found themselves standing aside of the 200-buyer limit.
The tablet, housing a dual-core CPU clocking 1.0GHz, the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb operation system, a 16 GB internal storage and a separate docking device serving at its QWERTY keyboard and touchpad input, is said to be $100 more expensive than that on sale in the US, but some $100 cheaper than that on sale in the UK.
Asus is the third to join the race for Android tablet sale in Vietnam after its Taiwanese and Korean rivals Acer and Samsung with Acer Inconia Tab and Galaxy Tab tablets respectively.
