Exhibition of sculptures, worship paintings opens
An exhibition of paintings and statues by painter, sculptor, and art critic Nguyen Quan has opened at Art Talk Café in Hanoi.
“3D White” has on display three white sculptures and 26 black and white oil paintings Quan, 63, created 30 years ago.
Some of the paintings are inlaid with Sinh village paintings from the central province of Thua Thien-Hue – the famous folk style used to express people’s wishes on votive offerings that are burnt during prayers.
The painter said he wanted to offer people a chance to see the painting style since it was a “waste” to use it just for worshiping.
The exhibition at 12 Quan Su will run until June 20.
