Car crashed, nine dead, five injured
A North-South train crashed into car in Hanoi’s Thuong Tin District this afternoon, killing nine passengers and injuring five.
The car is a 16-seat Toyota with a Thai Nguyen Province number plate.
Pham Van Binh, head of the safety department at the Vietnam Railway Corporation said the Saigon-Hanoi train, numbered SE8, was continuing its journey toward the Hanoi Station.
Eye witnesses said the Toyota was disregarding the train crossing barrier when it was hit and dragged dozens of meters away from its position.
The police are trying to clear the site, which has been bogged down with traffic since the accident.
