Hong Kong singers honored at VN Int’l Choir Fest

Plaisir Ensemble was highly rewarded for its hard work at the 1st Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition held in March 2011 when they won the first prize.
The first-ever Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition (VICC1) ended in the central province of Quang Nam on March 19, drawing the participation of over 30 choirs with nearly 1,000 artists from 11 countries and territories.
All together, Plaisir Ensemble won Golden Diploma in vocal ensemble of equal voices and The Winner of the category as well as The Overall Winner in Chamber Choirs.
Under the guidance of renowned conductor, Mr. MAN Kin-ping, these nine girls from Hong Kong have been growing from strength to strength over the years, gain remarkable achievements in global choir games and festivals.
Without any government support, these nine amateur choral enthusiasts have been putting a great deal of effort to represent Hong Kong in March 2011 to win in the 1st Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition, and proudly, sang the national anthem in front of distinguished guests all over the world.
At the event, the championship went to the choir hailing from the Diponenegoro University of Indonesia.
Five other first prizes were presented to the choirs of the Central University of Art Education of Vietnam and the Diponenegoro University of Indonesia, and the Coro San Benildo and llocos Norte National High School-Samiweng Singers choirs of the Philippines.
The four-day event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee and the Germany-based Interkultur organization.
