Int'l scientific conference center to be built in Binh Dinh

Vietnam will break ground on a center dedicated to housing meetings between Vietnamese and international scientists next year in the central province of Binh Dinh, VnExpressreported Friday.

The France-based Recontres du Vietnam invested a total of US$6 million into the the center.

The facility will span184,000 square meters and house conference halls, workrooms, and a three-star hotel among other amenities, according to the news website.

Work is expected to begin in July or August, the site reported. The international scientific conference center will go into operation at the end of 2012.

The center is designed to enhance the expertise of local university lecturers and satisfy the demand for international training throughout the central region,VnExpress said.

Established in 1996 as an organization of overseas Vietnamese scientists, the Recontres du Vietnam so far has held many international conferences in Vietnam and abroad.

Each was attended by more than 300 scientists, some of whom are Nobel-prize winners, from over 30 countries.
