An art performance show hoping to bring foreign tourists closer to Vietnamese culture and history will open on December 5 in Ho Chi Minh City, local news website Vietnamnet reported.

With an initial investment of some US$250,000, the Xin chao (Hello) performance will have 50 Vietnamese artists dance, demonstrate martial arts and perform circus acts.

The show will be held at the 23/9 Park on District 1’s Pham Ngu Lao Street, where many foreigners in the city get gather, the news source said.

It quoted producer Laura Burke as saying that she hoped foreign tourists will understand more about Vietnam’s history, culture and performance arts through Xin chao.

Augustus Greaves, managing director and producer, said Xin chao follows the model of successful art performances in the world and the Southeast Asian region like Singapore’s Voyage de la vie, Thailand’s Siam Niramit, and Canada’s Cirque du soleil.
