Market edges up on blue chips, again

Vietnamese stock market opened a brisk trading session on the first day of June with the VN-Index gaining 14.32 points (3.4 percent) to 435.69 points and the HNX-Index rising 2.25 points (3.24 percent) to 71.73 points.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the total matching order trade reached 33.94 million shares valued at VND580.86 billion, up 49.17 percent in volume and 49.42 percent in value from the previous trading session.
Opening the trading session, the Vietnam’s benchmark stock index continued the slight upward tendency of 1.61 points (0.38 percent) to 422.98 points. The liquidity reached 820,000 shares worth VND20.69 billion then.
IJC reached the highest liquidity in the first phase of the trading session with over 40,000 shares being traded.
In the second stage, the group of key stocks still kept the increasing momentum such as SSI, DPM and HAG.
If including negotiation transactions, SSI reached the biggest trading volume with 1.8 million units. SSI ended the trading session hitting the ceiling with VND800 to VND17,200 per share.
Five others also hit the ceiling including BVH, DRC, MSN, VPL and VST whereas MHC hit the floor for the 13th trading session when losing VND100 to VND3,200 per share.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX), the total market trade of over 27.96 million shares for VND285.4 billion, down 2.36 percent in volume and 4.16 percent in value day on day.
Opening the trading session, the HNX-Index followed the downward trend from the previous session. But thanks to the strong demand power at 9:00 am, the HNX Index returned to gain points and approached close to the 72 point threshold.
THV reached the biggest trading volume with 2.63 million shares. THV ended with a gain of VND500 to VND9,700 per share.
PDC continued to hit the ceiling for the 4th consecutive session when increasing VND200 to VND4,200 per share whereas BVG slipped to the floor price for the 10th straight session, losing VND300 to VND5,300 per share.
By the end of Wednesday’s trading session, there were 208 gainers, 35 losers and 39 standing still at the reference prices on the southern bourse and the respective figures on the northern bourse were 66, 244 and 27.
Foreign investors Tuesday continued their 4rd net-buying session in a row with about 2 million shares for over VND46 billion on HoSE, and 407,400 share worth over VND4.3 billion on HNX.
On the southern bourse, foreign investors bought about 4.12 million shares valued at over VND127 billion, up 29.04 percent in volume and 48.36 percent in value against the previous trading session. They sold over 2.12 million shares for over VND80 billion, up 16.9 percent in volume and 45.72 percent in value against Tuesday’s.
Their net-buying session focused on VCB, OGC, CTG, HPG, DPM, HSG, HAG, STB and ITA-coded shares with 308,670 shares, 219,580 shares, 216,440 shares, 193,630 shares, 172,210, shares, 127,720 shares, 113,550 shares, 107,400 shares, and 103,920 shares respectively.
On the northern bourse, they bought over 566.500 shares worth over VND7 billion, up 0.43 percent in volume but down 2.83 percent in value against Tuesday’s. They sold 159,100 shares for over VND2.7 billion, up 20 percent in volume and 34.52 percent in value against the previous session.
Their net-buying session Tuesday focused on SHB, VCG, and PVC-coded share with 70,700 shares, 60,400 shares and 59,000 shares respectively.
