Helicopters for hire: from $3,800/h
A first-ever helicopter charter service in Vietnam is now available in Da Nang city in central Vietnam where a helicopter can be hired at US$3,800 and $7,500 per hour.
The 12-seat EC 155 B1 (the most modern in the European Helicopter Association), and Russian-made 24-seat MI 17 and MI 172 helicopters are on offer to serve local and foreign tourists.
Prices range between US$3,800 and $7,500 per hour, depending on aircraft types and whether a pilot or a tour guide is included.
Currently, the Vietnamese Tourism JSC or Vitours, the charter operator, offers only short helicopter tours over the coastal city and the surrounding islands and peninsulas, including a half-day Danang City tour, one-day tour around Danang and Cu Lao Cham, one-day tour from Danang to Son Tra, Cu Lao Cham, My Son and back to Danang, one-day tour from Danang to Con Co, and one-day Danang-Ly Son tour.
Such unique tours are expected to attract more VIP tourists from the US, Europe, Japan, and South Korea, said Vitours’ deputy director Cao Tri Dung.
Dung added that a group of 20 tourists from Ho Chi Minh City has already booked a tour by helicopter in late December.
Da Nang received more than 1.589 million tourists in the first ten months of this year, including 336,000 foreigners, surpassing 10 pct of the year’s plan. It is targeting to receive 8.1 million tourists in the next ten years, including 1.4 million foreigners.
The city’s tourism industry earned VND1.051 trillion ($52.55 million) in the Jan-Oct period, up 62 pct year-on-year.
