Mekong Delta woman gives birth to 6-kg baby

A woman in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang delivered last Friday a baby girl weighing six kilograms, or nearly twice the size of an average newborn in Vietnam.
It took doctors at the Go Cong town General Hospital 20 minutes to get the baby out of 29-year-old Tran Thi Phuong.
Mother and child are in good condition, doctors said.
In 2006, Phuong had given birth to a 4.2-kg baby boy.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the heaviest baby on record was born to Anna Bates of Canada in 1879.
The baby boy weighed 10.8 kilograms but died 11 hours after birth.
