Sapa tourism hotspot fully booked on New Year
Most hotels and guesthouses in the Sapa misty tourism town have been fully booked in the past two days despite freezing temperature dropping to 7 Celsius.
According to Sa Pa Tourist Information Center, the Ham Rong Eco-Tourism Area alone welcomed nearly 4,000 visitors during 2011’s first days.
Sapa in the northern province of Lao Cai is capable of receiving 4,500 – 5,000 visitors each night, not counting low-priced motels at local homes that target foreign tourists in green tourism areas like Ta Van, Ban Ho, Lao Chai, Nam Cang.
On this occasion, prices of foods, drinks, or vehicle rentals in Sapa also increased considerably.
“The number of tourists to Sapa this year is the largest since 2009. Thousands of domestic and international visitors book tours to sightsee Sapa on the New Year,” Phung Thi Thom, tickets sale staff of Ham Rong Eco-Tourism Area said.
In other news, five-star cruise EUROPA with 450 foreign tourists on board landed at the Tan Cang harbor in the Hai Phong northern city on the morning of January 2.
EUROPA is the first international cruise coming to the city in the New Year, promising to boost up the city’s cruise tourism in 2011.
Hai Phong is expected to receive 900,000 foreign tourists among a total 4.5 million visitors estimated to visit the city in 2011, up 7.14% year-on-year.
