Vietnamese orchestra to play Russian classics
The Ho Chi Minh City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra will perform several works of the Russian greats Piotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninov and Modest Mussorgsky on May 9.
Titled “Russian Night”, the concert will feature “Dawn on the Moscow River” from Mussorgsky’s opera “Khovanshina,” Rachmaninov’s “Rhapsody on the theme of Paganini” and Tchaikovsky’s “Violin Concerto in D Major” and “Overture 1812.”
The concert, to be conducted by Nguyen Anh Son and Tran Nhat Minh, will be held at 8pm at the HCMC Opera House, 7 Cong Truong Lam Son, District 1.
Ticket costs VND150,000 - 250,000 (US$8-13) for general audiences and VND60,000 ($3) for students.
