Stock makes U-turn with record-high liquidity

Vietnamese stock market Friday stopped from marking its 7th and 3rd gaining streak this week on two national bourses with the VN-Index falling 7.18 points (1.59 percent) to 443.41 points and the HNX-Index slipping 0.18 points (0.24 percent) to 73.87 points.
But it did mark the most exciting trading session this year with the highest liquidity, VND1.65 trillion ($81.43 million), on both bourses.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the total matching order trade reached over 47.6 million shares valued at VND912.5 billion, up 40 percent in volume and 34 percent in value day on day.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX), the total market trade reached over 68.3 million shares for VND762.4 billion, up 142.4 percent in volume and 154 percent in value day on day.
By the end of Friday’s trading session, there were 71 gainers, 158 losers and 53 shares standing still at reference prices on the southern bourse and the respective figures on the northern bourse were 151, 116 and 70.
Foreign investors Friday continued their 6th net-buying session in a row on HoSE with about 2.9 million shares worth about VND99 billion, and they shifted to net-buying mode with about 768,000 share for about VND9.8 billion on HNX.
On the southern bourse, foreign investors bought about 7.59 million shares valued at over VND225 billion, up 69.33 percent in volume and 59.27 percent in value against the previous trading session. They sold over 4.69 million shares for over VND126 billion, up 4.59 percent in volume and 10.26 percent in value against Thursday’s.
Their net-buying session focused on SSI with 641,030 shares, VCB with 363,830 shares, FPT with 284,440 shares, DPM with 272,530 shares, SJS with 233,730 shares, and CTG with 219,960. The others like HPG, SAM, HAG, and BVH also witnessed an exciting trading session with 177,220 shares, 173,990 shares, 147,240 shares, and 147,000 shares respectively.
But they also concentrated on net-selling, mostly ANV with 155,160 shares, HVG with 126,180 shares, and SBT with 123,080 shares.
On the northern bourse, they bought 1.8 million shares worth over VND21 billion, up 134 percent in volume and 153 percent in value against Thursday’s. They sold 1.03 million shares for over VND12 billion, down 6 percent in volume and 22 percent in value against the previous session.
Their net-buying session Friday focused on securities firms like KLS with 659,800 shares worth over VND6.3 billion, BVS with 221,000 shares worth over VND3 billion, and AAA with 186,900 shares worth over VND3 billion. They also concentrated on net-selling around VND3.5 billion with 332,900 VND-coded shares and 295,800 SHN-coded shares.
