Danang eyes National Treasures status for antiques
Da Nang authorities have compiled information about three relics dating back to the first millennium for recognition as National Treasures by the government.
They are the E1 Altar from My Son, a lingam from Tra Kieu, and the Bodhisattva Tara bronze idol on display at the city’s Museum of Cham Sculpture.
The Tra Kieu relic – representing the Hindu god Shiva -- is from Tra Kieu village in Quang Nam, the Cham’s first capital in the 4th to 8th centuries.
The Bodhisattva Tara bronze statue from the 9th century is from Dong Duong village in Quang Nam.
