AO fundraiser held in Germany

Officials from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union's Central Committee attended a charity walk with hundreds of overseas Vietnamese to benefit child victim's of Agent Orange in Germany Sunday.

Christel Hummer, member of Bundestag – Germany’s parliament, and Nguyen Huu Trang, Vietnamese Consul General in Frankfurt, also took part in the event held by the Vietnamese Intercultural Women’s Initiative in Germany (VIFI).

Held in Bochum City, the annual event asked participants to walk 2.5 kilometers around Kemnade lake and each of them who walked one kilometer would help raise one Euro (US$1.28) for a fund dedicated to the children.

According to Vietnam News, the walk was initiated in 2006 by VIFI, which works to support Vietnamese women in Germany to achieve equality in their family and society while protecting the Vietnamese culture. It has also launched activities to assist children and women in their homeland.
