Nha Trang installs green lighting systems
Nha Trang coastal city will install a lighting system using concentrated solar power in response to Earth Hour campaign held in the city’s 2-4 square at 8:30 pm March 26.
The system, sponsored by Ha Quang Real Estate Ltd. Company, includes fourteen 5m-high electric poles surrounding the square.
Meanwhile, Tran Phu Street will see six 10m-tall lamp posts using wind power.
According to Mario Joseph Lotti, deputy director of Ha Quang Company, the company will help Nha Trang set up lamb-posts throughout the city.
“Switch off lights in 60 minutes - 365 days of action for climate change” is the message of the WWF Earth Hour this year.
In 2009 and 2010, Vietnam Earth Hour was held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, respectively.
In response to Earth Hour 2010, Vietnam saved 500,000 kWh after switching off lights for one hour on March 27.
First held in Sydney, Australia in 2007, Earth Hour campaign has been organized in many countries around the world to enhance public awareness of the need to save energy and to fight climate change.
