A mural spanning 3.95 kilometers along Hanoi’s Red River has been dubbed the world’s longest ceramic painting by the Guinness World Records.
The Con duong gom su (Ceramic road) combines motifs and images from the past 3,000 years, together with contemporary designs, and works by artists from traditional craft villages and abroad. It also features mosaics by Vietnamese children and kids from other countries.
Artists began work in 2008 on images which make up some 7,000 square meters of ceramic artwork. The wall is scheduled for completion this September 25 in time for Hanoi’s millennial celebration.
Bui Thu Thuy, who initiated the project, said representatives from Guinness World Records will visit Hanoi from October 2 to 5 to certify the work.
