Power authority promises no more cut in June
The Electricity Regulation Authority of Vietnam (ERAV) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade has pledged not to cut power supply next month when several thermo power plants will be put back to use.
These thermo plants, which have been closed down for maintenance and will be soon reconnected to the national grid, plus the hydropower reservoirs that have been filling up with rains and seasonal floodwaters, will ensure adequate supply, ERAV said.
The authority also said as power demand hadn’t increased as much as expected, the nation’s power supply was still able to cope, and power cuts have been less frequently since last month.
Hydropower plants account for up to 40 percent of Vietnam’s electricity supply.
