VASCO to open route from Can Tho to Con Dao in June
The Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) will officially operate the Can Tho to Con Dao air route starting from June 1, company director Bui Ngoc Hoang said Monday.
VASCO will provide four flights a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, using the 65-seat ATR72-500 new-generation aircraft, Hoang said.
The flight time for each trip is about 40 minutes.
In the first stage, promotional prices for a single trip will start at VND400,000 (US$19).
Customers can buy tickets at ticket offices, official VASCO agents and at all of the ticket offices of Vietnam Airlines Corporation countrywide.
In 2004 VASCO started to operate the Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao air route with four flights per week on the 25-seat AN-38 aircraft . After six years, the passenger transport growth rate has been increasing by about 40 to 50 percent a year. Vietnam Airlines Corporation currently runs 24 to 28 flights a week on this route with the ATR72-500 aircraft, a product of the Italian-French joint venture Aircrafts of Regional Transport.
Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City, two of the five centrally governed cities, and Con Dao Island—a district of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and a well-known tourist destination—are all located in southern Vietnam.
