Vietnamese films to hit American screens
Over 60 movies by Vietnamese filmmakers around the world will be featured at the 5th Vietnamese International Film Festival in California next month.
The list includes several high profile productions made in Vietnam such as Canh dong bat tan (Floating Lives), Bay rong(Clash), Bi, dung so! (Bi, Don’t Be Afraid), Choi voi (Adrift) andKhi yeu dung quay dau lai (Don’t look back).
The other entries come from Vietnamese communities in Australia, Canada, France, German, the Philippines, the UK and the US.
Started in 2003, the festival has been held once every two years by two US-based non-profit organizations, the Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association, and the Vietnamese Language & Culture.
This year’s festival, titled “Reel Momentum”, will take place on April 7-10 & 14-17 at the University of California - Irvine, Edwards University Cinema 6 (also in Irvine), the University of California - Los Angeles and the Bowers Museum of Cultural Art in Santa Ana.
